How to Create a Letterhead Template in MS Word

A company must show a professional face to the world to be taken seriously. One common issue small businesses have is a lack of a letterhead on business documents and correspondence. Letterhead provides your company name and important information about the business. Without it, people may think the business isn't legitimate or that it doesn't have the resources to produce professional documents. Create professional letterhead templates with Microsoft Word.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Microsoft Word. Click on the "Insert" and select "Header" from the "Header and Footer" section. Choose "Blank" from the built-in templates menu. Word will take you to the header in the document.

    • 2

Type the text of your letterhead in the text box that appears in the header. Include information such as your company's name, address, contact information, website and slogan.

    • 3

Move the cursor to the location where you want to place your logo. Insert the logo by selecting the "Insert" tab and clicking "Picture." Use the navigation window that appears to find the image file of your logo and click "Open." Word will place the logo at the cursor. Move the image around by double clicking and dragging it. Change the size by clicking on one of the circles surrounding the image and dragging it.

    • 4

Double-click outside of the header to see how the letterhead will look on documents. Make changes as necessary.

    • 5

Click the floppy disk icon to save the letterhead. Type a name for the letterhead template and select "Word Template" from the "Save as Type" drop-down box. Click "Save."
