How to Build a Landing Page While Using a Subdomain

Subdomains work similarly to normal domain names in that search engines will still crawl them for content and each subdomain will appear within those search results as its own site. Whether or not a web designer chooses to use a domain or subdomain for their squeeze or landing page has no effect on how well it performs as far as search engine optimization is concerned. In most cases, individuals use a landing page or squeeze page to sell a product or service. Those looking to create a landing page must consider including the price, a "buy now" button, an overall description of the product through bullet points and examples of what that product or service can do for its visitors.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a subdomain that reflects the product or service you're looking to sell. For example, if you're selling an eBook on how to get an ex back, include "ex" in the name of your subdomain. Use any of the following web addresses including capitols and numbers:

      www.example.com/subdomain

      example.com/subdomain

      www.subdomain.example.com

      subdomain.example.com

    • 2

Pick a focus for your landing page and think of ways to sell your product or service in as few words as possible. Look back to landing pages you've come across. There are some landing pages that may feel too long; they repeat themselves and require visitors to scroll down the page numerous times just to see the price.

    • 3

Put your price front and center. Avoid making your visitors scroll down the page two or three times as they may end up losing interest. This way they can see the price right away and decide whether they'd like to read more about the product.

    • 4

Include a call to action at the top of your page. If we use the example about winning an ex back, a bold headline such as "Get Your Ex Back Fast" immediately tells your visitors what you're trying to sell.

    • 5

Add an image at the top of the page under your call to action that demonstrates the problem or result your landing page is targeting. For winning an ex back, this could include an image of a couple fighting, a broken heart, roses, chocolates or a hand with a ring on it. Rotate the image to see if it looks more appealing if it is oriented in a different direction.

    • 6

Use bullet points to illustrate how your product or service will aid your visitors so they can scan the page quickly. Continuing with the example, you may list points such as igniting an old romance, introducing new ways to communicate and pointers on how to tie the knot.

    • 7

Include a "Buy Now" button toward the middle of the page where visitors can see it. Place this button under your bullet points so they can get an idea of what they're buying before clicking the button.

    • 8

Include customer testimonials under your "Buy Now" button to validate your product or service. Avoid creating your own testimonials. Instead, try giving away your product or service to a few customers and ask for feedback. Get their permission and use that feedback on your landing page to validate your product or service.

    • 9

Include photos of the individuals who wrote your testimonials or even photos of your product at work. Remember, the more you share about your product or service, the easier it is for your visitors to make an educated decision.
