How to Make Your Own Static Guard

Eliminate static cling with homemade Static Guard.

Static Guard is a spray that you can apply to clothing to keep it from sticking to you, which is caused by static cling. Static occurs when the air is dry and an electrical charge happens that can cause flyaway hair and clothes that creep up your body. Instead of purchasing Static Guard, make your own static spray using materials you probably already have on hand. This will be cheaper in the long run and you can make as much as you need.

Things You'll Need

• Plastic spray bottle
• Fabric softener
• Water

Instructions

1. Measure 1 tbsp. of the fabric softening liquid, and pour it into the plastic spray bottle.

2. Fill up the plastic bottle the rest of the way with water, and place the cap on. Shake the bottle to mix the water and the fabric softener together.

3. Spray the garment that has static cling. Use a light spray, and don't saturate the clothing. This will eliminate static on your clothing. Reapply the spray when necessary.
