How to Get Loot Cards

In the "World of Warcraft: Trading Card Game," players collect cards to build their playing decks and battle with one another. When purchasing booster packs and expansion sets, you have a very low chance of receiving a rare loot card. Loot cards give a 25-digit code that you can redeem at the official World of Warcraft website to receive a rare, collectible item, including gadgets, magical character effects, non-combat pets and mounts.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase "World of Warcraft: Trading Card Game" booster packs or starter decks. In the "Heroes of Azeroth," "Through the Dark Portal" and "Fires of Outland" series, a booster pack contains 15 random cards. All other series' packs contain 19 cards. A starter deck contains a 33-card playable deck and 2 booster packs. Expansion boxes contain 24 booster packs. The more packs you purchase, the higher your chances are of obtaining a loot card.

Open each pack and search for loot cards. There are three grades of loot cards -- common, uncommon and rare. According to WoWTCGLoot.com, the odds of finding a loot card in an expansion box vary from series to series. In the "Heroes of Azeroth," "Through the Dark Portal" and "Fires of Outland" series, common loot cards appear once in six boxes, while uncommons appear once in 12 and rares appear once in 24. Expansion boxes in later series offer slightly higher odds.

Scratch away the gray protective layer on your loot card to reveal the 25-digit code, then visit the "Promotion Code Retrieval" page on the World of Warcraft website (see Resources). Enter your loot code, along with your game region and realm, and write down the new code that you receive. Log into World of Warcraft and fly to Booty Bay in Stranglethorn Vale. Speak to the goblin Landro Longshot, select your TCG series and enter your in-game code to receive your loot item.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your only interest in the "World of Warcraft: Trading Card Game" is the acquisition of loot cards, consider purchasing the loot cards directly from websites such as eBay.com or WoWTCGLoot.com. As loot cards are so rare, you may have to buy many, many booster packs before finding your first loot card. Always buy from trusted sellers.

  • If you can't find Landro Longshot in Booty Bay, type "/target Landro" and place a raid icon over his head to make him more visible. Before you redeem your code, be sure to have enough free space in your bags to receive the item.
