How to Remove Yourself From a Conversation List on Skype

How to Remove Yourself From a Conversation List on Skype thumbnail
Don't get frustrated at constant group messages. Instead, remove yourself.

One of Skype's benefits is that you can use it to chat with more than one contact at a time. Doing so creates a group in which any of the members can communicate with each other. This continues indefinitely; any group member could send a message to the entire group at any point. Simply clicking "Close" on the group window does not remove you from this conversation list or stop you from getting these messages.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the "Recent" tab, located beside the "Contacts" tab in Skype's left panel. This displays a list of your recent Skype contacts. You should see the group from which you wish to remove yourself listed here.

    • 2

Click the group from which you want to remove yourself. This displays all recent activity in this group in the main portion of Skype.

    • 3

Click "Conversation" at the top of Skype, and then click "Leave Conversation" from the list of options that appears. This opens a new window asking if you are sure you wish to leave this group.

    • 4

Click "Leave" to leave the group in question.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also leave a Skype group by typing "/leave" in the message field for the group. Hit "Enter" to leave the group.
