How to Draw Homie Clowns
Homie Clowns are a group of 23 cartoon clown characters depicted as social outcasts who run a renegade circus and participate in freak shows in warehouses. Their personalities are evident through their exaggerated faces, dark scowls, snarky smiles and their dark twists on usual clown attire. It's possible to accurately draw a Homie Clown's expression and attire to correct proportions using a grid drawing technique.

1
Go to the Homie Clowns website and print an image the Homie Clown you want to draw, or find one in a magazine or preprinted photo that you can use.
-
2
Use a ruler to find the halfway marks vertically and horizontally on the Homie Clown paper. Mark the halfway points on the picture using a mechanical pencil. Then use the ruler and the pencil to mark evenly and incrementally out to the end of the paper vertically. Do the same horizontally until the paper is evenly divided.

-
3
Use two rulers to plot the intersections of each point, and then draw lines between the marks on the vertical and horizontal axes until the entire picture is graphed.
-
4
Label each box a, b, c, d down the vertical side of the picture until you have labeled each box. Across the horizontal of the picture label each box 1, 2, 3, 4, consectuvely. This way, for example, you'll be able to easily find box a5.

On the white sheet of paper follow the same technique to draw a grid that is identical in size to the grid drawn on the Homie Clown(s) picture. Find the halfway points both vertically and horizontally on the paper, then mark gently with the pencil and use the pencil to very lightly draw the lines of the grid. The lines on this paper should be as invisible as possible.
-
6
Start in top left and follow the Homie Clown's picture over and down, drawing carefully what is in each box in one drawing onto the white paper grid.
-
7
Check through each box and make sure that what is on the white paper is exactly what is in the box. Smooth over any disjunctures in the drawing using the pencil in downward motions.
-
8
Use the black pen to outline the final drawing of the Homie Clown. Use the eraser to erase the pencil drawings and the grid.
-
9
Color in the Homie Clown following the colors in the original picture.

Tips & Warnings
Aim to keep the grids proportional to each other. For example, if you divide the white paper into 64 squares, then the original picture of the Homie Clowns is also divided into 64 squares, even if the original picture is half the size of the white paper on which you will draw the picture.
