How to Open Attachments on the HTC EVO
If you receive email with an attachment on the Sprint HTC EVO, you don't need to wait to open the attachment on a computer. The EVO supports opening email attachments on the device, as long as the phone has an application installed that is capable of opening the attachment. To save on bandwidth, the EVO does not download email attachments automatically. You must download the attachment before you can open it.

Open the message that contains the email attachment.

Touch the down arrow icon next to the file name to download the file. When the file is finished downloading, the icon will change to a paper clip.

Tap the paper clip icon to bring up the attachment menu.

Touch "Open" to open the attachment.

Tips & Warnings
You can save the attachment to a microSD card by touching "Save" instead of "Open."
You must have a program capable of opening the attachment installed on the phone to view it. If you try to open an attachment the phone doesn't support, it won't open.
