SIM cards are essential to swapping upgrade lines.

Sometimes it pays to be on the same plan as your parents or other relatives. While some people are always looking for the newest and best phone and not caring for their older devices, other, more responsible users are taking care of their devices with which they are completely content. Thankfully with any GSM provider, such as AT&T and T-Mobile, an alternate line can be upgraded in place of any other line that is available.

Instructions

    • 1

Visit a store or licensed retailer of your wireless service provider and inform them that you would like to upgrade the eligible line.

    • 2

Inform your service provider that you would like to keep the SIM card the same and only upgrade the phone.

    • 3

Swap the SIM card from the ineligible line's phone to the eligible line's phone once the upgrade is complete.

Tips & Warnings

  • The SIM card will transfer over your contacts as well as your phone number.
