How to Make a Bib Clip

A bib clip can save a child's outfit in a sticky situation. It's a simple item that turns ordinary napkins, paper towels or cloths into a bib. The clip simply hangs around the child's neck and holds the cloth into place, creating a make-shift bib. This is an essential item for every diaper bag. With a few supplies and a little time, craft a bib clip to avoid staining your child's outfit next time you're away from home.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the length of ribbon you will need to hang around your child's neck. The bib clip should only hang below the chin to provide the best protection. Add one inch to the measurement to allow for a hem at each end.

    • 2

Cut the ribbon to the measurement needed.

    • 3

Fold an end of the ribbon in 1/2 inch. Sew the ribbon down, creating a hemmed end. Repeat this process for the other end of the ribbon.

    • 4

Punch a small hole in the middle of the folded and hemmed section on each end of the ribbon. Ensure that the hole is close enough to the edge of the hem to allow the mini key chain to fit properly into an eyelet, but be sure that it is not too close to the edge that it can tear out.

    • 5

Insert an eyelet into each punched hole. Clip the backside of the eyelet into place.

    • 6

Attach a mini key chain into each eyelet and then add a second mini key chain. There will be two mini key chains attached to each eyelet.

    • 7

Attach a gator clip to the second mini key chain on each of the ribbon. The key chain will simply thread through the hole at the end of each gator clip. Once attached, the ribbon will hang around the child's neck with one clip on each shoulder to attach and hold a cloth.
