How to Put Your Menu on Facebook

Add your menu to your restaurant's Facebook Page with a scan or a special app.

Facebook Pages are the social network's method for connecting small businesses, such as restaurants and other organizations with their fans and customers. The admin of the Page creates a profile which features all of the relevant information, such as hours of operation and an address, as well as regular updates about new products, sales or other events. Restaurants can add their menu to the website to give customers an idea about the food and other refreshments offered by the establishment.

Instructions

Scan

1. Insert a copy of your menu into a scanner. Close the lid.

2. Open the scanner software. Press or click the "Scan" button.

3. Save the image as a PNG file. PNG is a small, easily uploaded file type for images, and the format can support higher resolutions than standard JPGs. In addition, Facebook will not allow you to upload PDF images -- the traditional file format for text-based image scans.

4. Log in to your Facebook account and visit your restaurant's Page.

5. Click the "Photos" tab. Click the "Upload Photos" button in the top right corner of the page.

6. Click "Select Photos" and browse your hard drive for the scanned menu image. Click "OK."

7. Click the "High Resolution" button. This will ensure that your file uploads at its full size for your customers.

8. Click "Publish Now" to share your menu with your fans.

Open Menu

1. Log in to your Open Menu account.

2. Visit the Open Menu Creator and follow the on-screen instructions to enter your restaurant's information and create a menu that conforms to Open Menu's standards.

3. Visit the Open Menu Tab's official Facebook page (facebook.com/openmenutab).

4. Click the "Add to My Page" link in the left column.

5. Visit your restaurant's Facebook page and click the new Open Menu tab. Click the "Edit Settings" button to begin adding your information.

6. Open a new browser tab and return to your Open Menu profile. Copy the URL of your Open Menu Format menu, available from your Open Menu profile.

7. Paste the Format menu in the indicated field on the Facebook app's settings menu.

8. Click "Save" and "Okay." Refresh your Facebook page to see your Open Menu information displayed in a special tab on your Facebook page.
