How to Use the Website Optimizer
Websites and web pages have the potential to attract valuable traffic that can help increase profits and popularity for your business. Many tools and applications are available to help you monitor the effectiveness of changes you make to your website's features or content when trying to increase traffic to your site. Website Optimizer is a tool from Google that allows you to analyze whether changes you make to your website result in traffic increases or decreases, repeat visits and actions you want the visitors to perform, such as requesting additional information about your product or service. Website Optimizer is free to use and includes a number of configuration options that will help you test and monitor your website.

Register for a Gmail account if you do not already have one. You can do this at either the Google or Gmail home page. Click the "Create an Account" tab and follow the steps.

Click the "My Account" tab and scroll down to the "Analytics" tab. Register your website with Google Analytics. You can use an email account that you already had established if you opted not to register for a Gmail account. The Google Analytics feature allows you to track your visitors, the sites that referred them, the average time spent on your site, and the site's completed goals.

Click the "My Account" tab and scroll down to the "Website Optimizer" tool. Click the tab and sign in to the email account that corresponds to your "Google Analytics" account.

Click the "Create an Experiment" tab.

Click the A/B Experiment link, which will allow you to create an identical page or website, make changes to the duplicate site, monitor which changes resulted in more conversion clicks, see which site or page had more time spent on the site and other details. The experiment will randomly decide to either send your visitors to the first version of the site or the second version and give you a report of the performance of both sites.

Click the Multivariate Experiment link if you want to test multiple versions of your website or page for you to manipulate and monitor instead of just the one additional page that the A/B test creates. However, this is recommended only after you have done the A/B experiment.
