Mustaches are similar to haircuts as you can personalize them to fit your facial structure and personality. They can be thick, thin, traditional or wacky. Some men use facial hair to balance or detract from facial features that they are unhappy with. However you decide to wear your mustache, you should keep it well-groomed.
Things You'll Need
- Mustache comb
- Manicure or stylist scissors
- Mustache trimmer with attachments
Position yourself in a well-lit location, such as in front of a bathroom mirror.
Comb through your mustache using a mustache comb and smooth all hair in the same direction.
Using sharp manicure or stylist scissors, trim hairs which have grown out or exceed the desired length. Work from one side of the mustache to the other.
Use the attachments of a mustache trimmer to shape, blend, and taper your mustache.
Begin at the center of the mustache and use the trimmer to follow the line of your lip, tapering and shaping the hair on the top and bottom of the mustache.
Blend the mustache hairs. Use the blender attachment of the mustache trimmer and start again at the middle, lightly trimming and directing angles of the hair away from the middle.
Fill in any thinning spots with color pencils sold at beauty supply stores.
