The first iPod's release was announced in October 2001.

One of the benefits of having an iPod is the ability to take your music with you wherever you go. If you have a friend who also has an iPod, you may want to transfer a song on your iPod over to his device by using iTunes as a sort of middleman. Have both iPods with you in order to complete the transfer process.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on the iTunes icon to launch the program on your computer.

    • 2

Connect the iPod that has the song you want to transfer to your computer. Your iPod's name pops up under the "Devices" list on the left side of iTunes.

    • 3

Click "File" and "Transfer Purchases from iPod." Wait until the music transfers from your iPod to iTunes, then disconnect the iPod from the computer.

    • 4

Hook the second iPod up to your computer. Again, the iPod's name appears under the "Device" heading.

    • 5

Click on the song you want to add and drag it over to your iPod to transfer it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Hold down the "Ctrl" key to select more than one song at a time.
