How to Train to Become a Texas Code Enforcement Officer Certification

Before becoming registered as a Texas code enforcement officer, you must undergo some basic training. First you will need to complete you high school education. Then you will need to complete the basic code enforcement course offered by Texas Engineering Extension Service. The course is offered at various times and in different cities. After completing this training, you can register as a code enforcement officer in Texas.

      Complete your high school education, receiving either a diploma or a GED.

      Register for the basic code enforcement course with the Texas Engineering Extension Service. Visit the course catalog on their website and select "HEP300 - Basic Code Enforcement." (See References.) Select the date and location where you want to complete the course. Fill in your personal details and pay the required fee --- $300 as of publication. You can make the payment by credit card, pinless debit or eCheck.

      Attend the classes. The classes last five days and have a total of 36 hours of classroom work.

      Write the exam at the end of the course. You must pass the exam with a grade of 72 percent or higher in order to be eligible to register as a code enforcement officer.
