How to Delete an Analytics Account

Google Analytics is a free website tracking service that allows you to see how visitors found your site, how much time they spent on it, which link they clicked on to leave and other similar information. This can help you figure out how to target your advertising or how you can improve your site to make it more user-friendly. If you currently use a Google Analytics account but would like to delete it for any reason, doing so is a quick process.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the Analytics JavaScript code from your website. This is the snippet of tracking code that you pasted into one or more pages when you first set up your Analytics account.

    • 2

Log in to your Google Analytics account. Click on "Edit Account Settings" at the top of the Account Overview page.

    • 3

Locate the "Delete Account" option, located just underneath the information on your account such as the account ID number, account name, default country and time zone. If you are sure that you want to get rid of your account permanently, click "Delete this account."

Tips & Warnings

  • If your account is linked to Google AdSense or another Analytics account, you will need to contact Google Analytics support to have them delete the account for you.
