How to Add an HTML Object to PowerPoint

When you insert an object into a PowerPoint slide, PowerPoint creates a graphical link to the object. You can double-click the link during the presentation to view the object in its native program. HTML files are supported objects in PowerPoint, so you can use the application's "Insert Object" feature to link to a webpage document on your hard drive.

Instructions

    • 1

Run Microsoft PowerPoint and open the presentation to which you want to add the HTML object.

    • 2

Navigate to the desired slide and click the location where you would like to place the object.

    • 3

Click the "Insert" tab in the Ribbon and then click the "Object" icon.

    • 4

Click "Create From File" and then click "Browse" and locate the HTML file on your hard drive. Click "OK" when you've selected the desired HTML file.

    • 5

Check the "Link" box if you don't want the file to be embedded into your PowerPoint document. If you don't check this box, then the current version of the HTML file will be saved as part of the PPTX document. You should not check this box if you plan to show the presentation on another computer.

    • 6

Check the "Display as Icon" check box if you want the slide to display an HTML icon. If you don't check this box, an image of the HTML file will appear in your presentation.

    • 7

Click "OK" to insert the HTML object into your presentation.

    • 8

Click on the HTML object's icon or preview thumbnail and then click and drag the anchors at the edges of the image to resize it to your liking.
