How to Draw a Goth Chick

The signature look for a goth chick includes dark hair, heavy makeup and black clothing.

Women who label themselves as goth chicks tend to belong to the goth subculture, known for dark clothing, hair and makeup. The look can be romantic or tough and industrial, or a mix of both. A number of goth chicks blend a variety of subcultures --- such as emo, punk, metal, steampunk, lolita and more --- to get a unique look. As you begin to draw your goth chick character, consider these other subcultures and how you want to incorporate them in your drawing.

Instructions

1. 

   Goth chicks tend to be thin and wear clothing the accentuates the thinness and length of their arms and legs.

   Sketch out the human form, making the body thin.

2. 

   Some goth chicks braid in colorful dreadlock falls and hair pieces into their black hair.

   Add details to the head such as long black hair in dreadlocks, braids or pin-straight. If the goth chick you're drawing has long bangs, sweep them down over one of her eyes for a mysterious look. If you draw your goth chick with short bangs, sketch them straight across her forehead in a blunt style.

3. 

   Many goth chicks opt for black ---or very dark purple or red ---lipstick.

   Draw the goth chick's facial features. Add heavy makeup to the eyes, such as thick black eye liner, and make the lips black. If the ears are visible, add several earrings --- rings, studs or large spikes --- to each ear.

4. 

   Not all goth chicks have facial piercings, but it is a popular body modification among that group.

   Finish drawing the face by adding any facial piercings you'd like your goth chick to have, such as a lip ring, nose ring or eyebrow piercing.

5. 

   A lot of goth chicks wear tall boots with very high platform heels.

   Draw clothing on the body. You might decide on a short skirt, knee high boots and a tank top for a tough goth chick look, or you might want to draw a dress with a flowing skirt and long sleeves for a dark and romantic look.

6. 

   Tattoos are popular among goth chicks.

   Add any final details once the body, face, hair and clothing have been drawn in. Tattoos and other jewelry accessories --- necklaces, gothic-style crosses, bracelets and rings --- will round out the look.

• Sketch out your goth chick in pencil first, then go back over it with black ink.
