How to Get People to Know About Your Facebook Application

Facebook applications span a wide range of categories, including interactive games, personal and professional promotional tools and even special versions of websites optimized for use via the Facebook interface. No matter which of these niches your Facebook application fills, maximize the number of people who know about it -- the more people who know about an application, the more are likely to use it.

Instructions

    • 1

Scroll down to the bottom of your Facebook news feed. Click "Create a Page" and click the category that best corresponds to your application -- "Brand or Product" or "Entertainment" cover most. Click the "Get Started" button and populate your new Facebook Page with information and pictures about your application.

    • 2

Click "Suggest to Friends," located in the upper-right corner of your new Facebook Page, and then click the name of each friend to whom you want to suggest the page. Click the "Recommend" button. When someone accepts your invitation, he "Likes" the page; messages you send out from it appear in his news feed. Note that someone need not be your friend to "Like" your page.

    • 3

Post messages to your Page's Wall -- which, in turn, sends them to the Facebook news feed -- as frequently as you can to stay in contact with your Page's fans. Use the messages to encourage fans to share the Page with their friends, who may or may not be among your own.

    • 4

Purchase a Facebook ad to promote the Page which links to your application. Scroll down to the bottom of Facebook and click "Advertising." Click "Create an Ad," select the name of your Page from the "Destination" drop-down list and provide requested information -- an ad description and thumbnail image, for example, as well as your target audience. Click the "Preview Ad" button to preview your ad and then click the "Place Ad" button once you've confirmed your ad appears as you like it. Enter payment information using major credit cards or PayPal to place the ad live on Facebook.

    • 5

Share links both to your Page as well as to the Facebook application itself, using other social media outlets, such as Twitter. Since Facebook users need not be on your friend list to "Like" your page or use your application, literally any registered user who clicks a link you send out on another social network can immediately begin using your product.
