How to Make a Sun Mask
Sunshine brightens up our lives and inspires happy feelings. Make sun masks and bring a ray of sunshine into the classroom or home. Creating sun maks with children teaches them about color, shapes and craft methods, as well as providing an opportunity to discuss the important role the sun has in nature. Once you've made their sun masks with them, encourage children to express their ideas and feelings about the sun in drama activities using their masks.

Cut out triangles from orange and yellow card stock, or have children draw around their hands on yellow and orange card stock about seven times and cut out these shapes.

4
Turn the plate so the painted side is facing down and glue the triangles (point facing out) or the hand-shaped cut outs (fingers out) around the rim of the plate to create rays.
-
5
Glue a popsicle stick to the center of the rim at the bottom of the plate to act as a handle so the mask can be held up to the face.
