How to Edit in Ning

Ning is a fee-based website that allows people to create social networks focused on any subject. Ning networks are established by groups or individuals who become the network administrator and give access to others with user accounts. When a Ning network is created, users have access to default feature modules such as the ability to upload photos, create blog posts and participate in forum discussions. Ning administrators can add a variety of additional modules based on the needs of the group.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your Ning account using the user name and password created when you created the account. You are taken to the homepage, which gives you access to all of the tools set up by your Ning network administrator.

    • 2

Click on the gray "Edit" button next to a module for which you would like to change options. The edit button allows you to control behavior for the associated module, not alter content within that module. For example, clicking "Edit" on the Blog module displays the following field of options: "Display," which allows you to choose "Detailed View" or "Titles Only"; "From," which allows you to choose the order of posts ("Most Popular," "Most Comments"); and the "Show" field, in which you select a default number of posts to list on your homepage.

    • 3

Scroll to the bottom of a module and click "+" to add content to that module. For example, click "+ Add a Blog Post" at the bottom of the Blog module to add a new post. Alternatively, click on the "Quick Add" drop-down box in your user control panel (where your user name is listed) and then click on the module you wish to edit.

    • 4

Complete all of the data entry fields for the module and then click "Publish Post" to add a Blog post; "Start Discussion" to add a new conversation in the Forum; or "Browse" to find pictures on your hard drive and then "Add Photos" to post new photos on your Ning network.
