How to Hide the Blogger Strip on Top of My Blog

The strip on top of Blogger-powered blogs, known as the Blogger Navbar, provides a search box and several other Blogger navigation tools. Many users choose to hide the bar, which appears by default on all Blogger templates, in favor of a custom search box and navigation menu. Others feel that the Navbar interferes with the blog's design. Google provides easy access to the template's HTML code, where adding one line will hide the Blogger Navbar.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your Blogger account.

    • 2

Click on the "Design" link located under the blog name on the "Dashboard" page and on the tab menu from the edit page.

    • 3

Click "Edit HTML" on the top left menu bar.

    • 4

Place the cursor at the beginning of the line that contains "] ]></b:skin>," and press "Enter" to add a new line above.

    • 5

Place the cursor in the new line you just created, and then type "#navbar-iframe {display:none !important;}" without quotation marks.

    • 6

Click on "Preview" to check the blog before saving.

    • 7

Click "Save" if the Blogger Navigation bar is hidden.

Tips & Warnings

  • Click "Download Full Template" on the design page to save a copy before editing.

  • As of June 2011, hiding the Navbar does not violate Google Blogger's Terms of Service, but always stay informed on the latest updates.
