How to Repeat an Image in Gimp
Gimp is a freely distributed image-editing program that can be downloaded to your computer. This powerful program is similar to many other full-featured image-editing applications, in that it provides you with numerous options for modifying your images. One of these options gives you the ability to repeat an image on a canvas by using the "Tile" filter included with your Gimp installation.
Instructions
-
-
1
Browse to the image that you want to repeat in Gimp.
-
2
Right-click on the image, then click "Edit in GIMP."
-
-
3
Click "Filter" at the top of the window.
-
4
Click "Map," then click "Tile." This opens a "Tile" popup window.
-
5
Type values into the "Width" and "Height" fields for the image you are about to create, allowing for the number of image repetitions you want. For example, if your image has dimensions of 100 pixels wide by 100 pixels high, three horizontal repetitions of the image would require dimensions of 300 pixels wide by 100 pixels high.

6
Check the box next to "Create New Image," then click "OK."
-
7
Click "File" at the top of your new image window, then click "Save" to save your repeated image file.

Tips & Warnings
You can also apply a "Seamless" effect to your repeated images, which eliminates the harsh edge created by the borders of your image. Before applying the "Tile" filter, click "Filter," "Map" and "Make Seamless." This effect modifies your image so that each repetition of the image seems to flow into the next one.
