How to Draw a Diamondhead

Modern arrowheads begin with the same basic shape as traditional arrowheads but then become a bit more complex in design with cutouts and sharp edges.

Diamondheads, also known as diamond arrowheads, are a modern arrowhead usually made of titanium. They are extremely sharp at the tips and have a more detailed design than original arrowheads. These modern blades are also referred to as broadheads and are composed of many blades with barbs at the back that make the arrow harder to remove.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw an isosceles triangle on your paper with the sides approximately two inches long and the base one inch wide using a ruler. The edges on modern blades are sharp and precise. unlike the naturally chiseled edges of traditional hand-made arrowheads.

    • 2

Sketch two lines from the outer tips of the base of the triangle in toward the center. Before reaching the center of the triangle, curve the lines out again and make another point. Curve the line in again and then straight down to show the stick or rod to which the arrowhead is attached. Be sure to make all points very precise and sharp for accuracy.

    • 3

Draw a straight line three-quarters of an inch wide parallel to the base of the triangle in the center slightly above the bottom of the arrowhead. Then draw two lines one-quarter of an inch long at a 45 degree angle from each side of that line toward the outside of the arrowhead. Draw two more lines from those points upward, connecting them at a sharp point in the center approximately in the middle of triangle. This is the diamond cut-out that is the primary characteristic of a diamondhead.

    • 4

Draw one more cut-out above the diamond in the shape of a triangle with the base of the triangle pointed upward mimicking the point of the diamond. Leave only a small space between the two cut-out areas.

    • 5

Change the outline of the arrowhead. Diamondheads have two small half circle cut-outs on the perimeter of the arrow on either side of the diamond cut-out about half-way down the side of the triangle. Erase the original outline. Add other sharp points or cut-outs to make the arrow unique.
