How to Chat in Yahoo without a Microphone
Connecting with your friends in Yahoo! Messenger using voice chat can be fun, but you don't have to use the voice feature. Instead, you can use your keyboard to have a regular text chat. Although its not quite as interactive, using Yahoo! Messenger to chat through text is still a great way to stay in touch with your family and friends or even meet new people.

Open Yahoo! Messenger and sign in using your username and password.

Click on "Messenger" on the menu bar.

Choose "Yahoo! Chat" from the drop-down menu.

Click on "Join a Room."

Choose an alias from the "Enter Chat room as" menu.

Pick the category in which you want to chat from the menu on the left, and then double-click on the specific chat room you want to join from the list on the right.

Enter the verification code displayed in the chat room window. This confirms that you are a person and not a computer chat bot.

Type the text you want to send to the other people in the chat room, and hit "Enter." You can continue to use this method of chatting without using your microphone for a voice chat.
