How to Remove the Stylize Effect in Illustrator

Illustrator is a state-of-the-art drawing program that creates art with thousands of colorful special effects in vector format. The stylize effect is a popular command that lets you add texture, shadows, glows, transformation and scribbles. It is easy to go overboard when applying special effects to your images in Illustrator; you can make so many design choices. If, after you've applied a style, you don't like it and wish to remove it, all you need to do is click the object on its layer and undo the effect.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a new or existing Illustrator document.

    • 2

Click the "Pen," "Brush" or "Pencil" tool in the Toolbar. Draw a squiggly shape, and ensure that you close the path.

    • 3

Click the "Selection" tool in the Toolbar. Click "Effect" from the main menu. Apply an effect from the "Illustrator Effects" pane. Click the effect, select any effect preferences, then "OK."

    • 4

Remove the "Stylize" effect. Click the effect with the "Selection" tool. Select "Window" from the main menu, then scroll down to "Appearance." Click the layer that contains the effect, then click the drill-down arrow to highlight the specific effect. Drag the effect to the small trash icon that appears in the "Layers" palette.
