How to Get Rid of Stalkertrack

Stalkertrack is a malicious phishing scam targetting MySpace users to turn over their login name and password with the promise that Stalkertrack can tell them who has been looking at their profiles. Once they have a user's login, they post comments on all of that user's friends' pages and publish a blog post advertising the benefits of Stalkertrack. Preventing Stalkertrack's access is the easiest way to protect your account, but if you are the victim of an Internet scam that gains access to passwords, credit cards and more (or "phished"), it is still possible to clear all traces of the scam from your profile.

Instructions

  1. Change Your Password

    • 1

Log in to your MySpace account as usual. Stalkertrack gains access to your account when you submit your username and password through the form on their site; you have not been hacked and they do not change your password or otherwise lock you out of your account.

    • 2

Click on "My Stuff" and scroll down to "Account Settings" under the "Account" heading in the drop-down menu. You are taken to a page showing your login and contact information with a menu on the left-hand side offering other account setting options.

    • 3

Click "Password" under the "Account Settings & Privacy" tab in the menu at the left of the screen.

    • 4

Enter your current password in the first box, your new desired password in the second box and repeat the new password in the third. Click "Save Changes" to complete the process.

    Delete Stalkertrack's Postings

    • 5

Login to MySpace in a safe browser. Do not use Internet Explorer as it is susceptible to the code Stalkertrack uses to make deleting their posts difficult. Try using Firefox or Google Chrome.

    • 6

Click on "My Stuff" and scroll to "Blog" under the "Profile" tab. Click it to be taken to your blog. Stalkertrack posts to your blog, advertising their non-existent and impossible service; no program can track views to your profile and, in fact, when you submit your information to Stalkertrack, the site informs you that the service is not ready yet and you are really signing up for their "Tracker promoter form."

    • 7

Click "Manage Blog" under your blog's title. You are taken to a page listing all of your MySpace blog subscriptions and buttons to access options for your own blog.

    • 8

Click the settings button at the top of your "Manage Blogs" page and click "Blog Safe Mode." Your blog page changes to Safe Blog mode, allowing you to easily edit and delete posts.

    • 9

Delete Stalkertrack's spam posts from your blog. If you try to do this outside of Safe Blog mode or in an unsafe browser, the script in Stalkertrack's entry overlays your screen with an enormous Stalkertrack ad which, when clicked, redirects you to their phishing page.
