Handwritten notes are special and personal, so their packaging should be just as important. Practice a few simple origami techniques to fold your note into a cute heart-shaped work of art. You don't even need an envelope. Any kind of paper can be folded -- just make sure that you're using a square sheet of paper. Or if you want another option to package your note, you can fold it into a simple and elegant origami swan.

Instructions

  1. Heart

    • 1

      Write your note on a piece of square paper. Rotate the paper so that it looks like a diamond.

      Fold the top corner in half over to the bottom corner. Crease and unfold. Repeat fold from left corner to right corner. Crease and unfold.

      Fold the top point to the horizontal crease line. Fold the bottom point to the top flat edge and crease.

      Fold the bottom right edge to so that it aligns to the vertical crease line in the center. Crease. Repeat for bottom left edge.

      Turn the heart over. There should be two points jutting out of the sides of the heart. Fold the corners in to make flat edges. Fold the two top points to make flat edges on top. Crease both folds.

      Flip heart over. This is the final heart-shaped note.

    Swan

      Write your note on a piece of square paper. Rotate the paper so that it looks like a diamond.

      Fold the left corner over to the right corner. Crease and unfold. Fold the top left edge and the top right edge over to the vertical center line and crease.

      Fold the left edge and right edge on the vertical center line and crease. Fold the figure in half on the center crease.

      Fold the pointed end up about 1/3 the length of the shape. This is the neck. Push the neck in between the two layers of paper. Fold the tip to make a beak.

      Fold the bottom right edge over to make the tail. Push the tail in between the two layers of paper.
