Spiffy Horse provides players with options to breed foundation stock horses.

Spiffy Horse is an Internet game for horse lovers that simulates horse ownership including breeding, purchasing, training, stabling, showing and care. Players use game money to purchase horses, feed and supplies and to pay stud fees. Money can be earned by providing horse-related services such as training and boarding. Players select mares and stallions to breed based on their characteristics, breed traits, bloodlines and status points.

Instructions

    • 1

Go to www.spiffyhorse.com and log on using your account or open a new account by selecting the "Join Spiffy Horse Now" link.

    • 2

Click on the "Stable" link from the menu at the top of the screen.

    • 3

View the horses in your stable and choose the mare that you wish to breed. Review your mare's profile by clicking on the ID number next to her name and description. Each horse's profile includes detailed information on color, pedigree, breed, statistics, training and health. Mares and stallions must be between the ages of 3 and 25 to be bred. Assess the traits of your mare's breed before deciding to cross-breed her with a stallion of a different breed. Breed characteristics such as size and conformation of both the mare and stallion need to be complementary. For example, it is not wise to pair a large-breed draft horse with a small-breed pony.

Review the stats points listed in the profile area for your mare. Conformation, movement, speed, intelligence and personality are called solid stats points and are defined by the horse's breed and bloodlines. These stats do not change. Choose mares to breed that have high numbers in these areas as these points will be passed along to the foal. Strength, agility, stamina, condition, and knowledge are considered fluid stats points, which can be adjusted through contact with the horse. Fluid stats points are also inherited by the foal, but are less significant than the solid stats.

    • 5

Choose a stallion to breed to your mare from your stable. If you do not have a suitable stallion, you can search for a stallion at stud that meets your breeding criteria. Using a stallion outside of your stable will incur stud fees. Prior to selecting a stallion, follow the steps above to evaluate the animal.

    • 6

Calculate the overall stat points for your foal. Add the solid stats points from your stallion and mare together for each solid stats category. Divide the totals by two to calculate the average for the category. Your foal will receive the average of the solid stats from the parents. Fluid points are also passed down from the parents. Foals inherit approximately 25% of the fluid stats points from their parents; however, the percentage may change if your breeding skill score is high.

Return to your mare's profile area by clicking on the link to her ID number in the stable. Click on the link for "breed horse" in the "Breeding Information" section of her profile. Choose the appropriate stallion from the drop-down box. Your mare's breeding status will change to show that she has been bred.

    • 8

Care for your mare by providing feed and attention. You can also continue to train your mare while she is in foal.

    • 9

Monitor the status of the mare's pregnancy in the profile area. Mares remain in foal for seven days. Once the foal is born, it will show up in the stable of the mare's owner.

Tips & Warnings

  • There is no limit to the amount of times that a stallion may be bred; however, mares are limited to breeding every seven days.

  • If you do not wish to breed your own horses, you can purchase foundation stock from the Spiffy Horse store. Click on the "World" link from menu at the top of the screen and select the link for "Store." Select the "Purchase Foundation Horse" link to purchase.

  • A higher breeding skill score allows you to pass along more fluid stats points from the parents to the foal. You can increase your breeding skill score by successfully breeding more horses.
