How to Make a Yahoo! Avatar Icon
A Yahoo! avatar is displayed next to your Yahoo! Messenger user ID and next to your instant messages during a chat conversation. An avatar is a cartoon depiction of yourself or your alter ego. In Yahoo!, you can completely design your avatar by changing its clothes, physical features, and background location. You can make your avatar icon look like you -- or someone you want to be.

Sign in to your Yahoo! Messenger account.

Click on "Menu" and then select "Change My Display Image." When you see a new window, click "Create my Yahoo! Avatar."

Chose whether you want a "Female" or "Male" avatar, then click "OK."

Click on the various tabs labeled by features of your avatar that you can modify, such as "Apparel" and "Appearance." You can choose eye color, hair color, clothing and more.

Select "Save Changes" to make your avatar appear on your Yahoo! Messenger account.
