How to Change the MTU Settings on a D-Link Router DIR-655

Physically link your D-Link DIR-655 wireless router to your computer with an Ethernet cable and configure it using a page you access through Web browser. Some specific situations may require you to change your router's MTU value. While most providers use the standard 1500 value, others may use a slightly smaller size. Locate and change the MTU setting in the DIR-655 configuration software.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect to your router's configuration page by typing "192.168.0.1" in your browser's address bar and pressing "Enter."

    • 2

Log in to the configuration page by typing in your password and clicking "Log In." If you have never created a password, leave the password field empty.

    • 3

Click the "Setup" tab at the top, and then click the "Manual Internet Connection Setup" button at the bottom. This action displays a new set of options on the screen.

    • 4

Find the "MTU" field in the bottom section. Erase the present value, and then type the desired size.

    • 5

Click the "Save Settings" button at the top. The router resets and applies the change.
