How Can I Craft a Dragon Out of Balloons?
An essential part of some clown and magician routines is balloon crafting, wherein the performer creates intricate designs that look like animals or other common objects. Some of their balloon designs can be quite complex, but others are quite simple. With only two long, thin balloons, which are called 260 balloons, you'll be able to craft a dragon with wings in just a few minutes.
Instructions
-
Dragon Body
-
1
Blow up one of the 260 balloons, but leave about 2 inches of balloon not inflated.
-
2
Twist 2 inches from the fully-inflated end of the balloon to make a small bubble. This will be the dragon's mouth.
-
-
3
Make a 1-inch bubble beside the 2-inch bubble and twist it so that it is positioned just above the 2-inch bubble. You will draw the eyes on this 1-inch bubble.
-
4
Make a 1 1/2-inch bubble below the 1-inch bubble. This will be the neck of the dragon.
-
5
Make a 1-inch bubble below the neck for one of the shoulders and position it to one side of the neck.
-
6
Make a 2-inch bubble below the shoulder for one of the arms, fold it down and twist it with another 2-inch portion of the balloon to make a second arm that is of equal length.
-
7
Adjust each of the bubbles you've created so that the mouth is pointed outward, the eye-bubble is pointed upward, the neck descends down, the shoulder extends behind and the arms extend outward.
-
8
Make a 2-inch bubble below the arms for the body.
-
9
Make a 3-inch bubble for one of the legs, fold that bubble down and twist it to the balloon so that you have two legs.
-
10
Extend the remainder of the balloon directly behind the dragon to make the tail.
-
11
Add two eyes to the eye bubble, sharp teeth to the mouth and claws to the ends of the arms and legs.
Dragon Wings
-
12
Blow your second 260 balloon all the way up and let some air out of it until you have about 1 inch of deflated air on each of the ends. Tie the ends together.
-
13
Twist the balloon on the opposite side of the tied end. On each side of the balloon, you will have two sections that look like they have been twisted or attached.
-
14
Put the tied end and the twisted end together and twist them together to form a figure eight.
-
15
Wrap the middle of the figure eight around the body of the dragon just under its arms. Position the wings so that they are on each side of the body.
