How to Print PDFs With Callouts

How to Print PDFs With Callouts thumbnail
With a few clicks of your mouse, you can print a PDF with callouts.

A PDF is a file created in a portable document format. In Adobe Acrobat, you can use the callout tool to place any comments you have regarding the file on the PDF itself without obscuring nearby pertinent text. The callout box is distinguished from other comment boxes by the attached arrow that you use to point to the text or image on which you want to comment or call out. Print your document with the callouts showing by adjusting your print settings.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on "File" in the Menu bar. Select "Print" from the drop-down menu. This opens the print options dialog box.

    • 2

Look for the section labeled "Comments and Forms." Select "Document and Markups" from the drop-down menu.

    • 3

Check in the print preview area that the callouts are visible. This indicates that they will print.

    • 4

Click "OK" to print your PDF with callouts and all other markups.

Tips & Warnings

  • Whether you are using Version 8, 9 or X of either the standard or professional version of Adobe Acrobat, most of the print options are the same.

  • Other markups you've added to the PDF will print in addition to the callouts; these include text boxes, highlighting, underlining, arrows, circles and other commenting tools.
