How to Talk in "Second Life" Without a Microphone

Although talking in Second Life is simple with a microphone, one is not required to chat with all players.

Second Life is a free downloadable online social networking application for users who are interested in creating a virtual character to play and "live" in an online virtual world. Second Life allows registered users to create avatars, make friends and have conversations with others around the world. If you do not have a microphone yet you are still looking to communicate on Second Life, various options are available depending on the relationship you have with the other Second Life player as well as your own preferences.

Instructions

1. Click the "Chat" bar in the main application of Second Life.

2. Press "Enter" on your computer's keyboard to chat using your keyboard in any room or location your avatar is currently visiting in Second Life.

3. Right-click on another avatar in Second Life and select "IM" to begin privately chatting with another player using the computer's keyboard rather than a microphone.
