How to Tie Up a Jasmine Plant
Jasmine is a sweet-smelling climbing vine with delicate white flowers. While there are many varieties of jasmine, the one known for its classical scent is J. officinale. It grows quickly and twines naturally, although sometimes it needs a little help. If you don't tie the jasmine to a trellis, it tends to fall over on itself and create a shrublike mound. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Inspect the distance between the plant and your support. Your support can be a trellis, fence, post or wall. The jasmine should be no more than a foot away from the area you want the vine to wrap around. If your plant is still young and is not close enough to the support, dig it up and plant it closer.

2
Select a vine from the center of the plant and attach it to the support with a twist-tie. You can also use twine, but since you will need to loosen it as the plant grows, a twist-tie is more efficient.

3
Secure the plant with a twist-tie every 6 inches. If you are attaching jasmine to a fence, you will need an extra long tie or thin wire. If you are attaching it to a trellis, wrap the plant loosely around the lattice first, then secure it.

Repeat this process with each stalk you want to secure. Check the ties every few months to make sure they are still secure, and that the plant has not outgrown them.
