How to Block People From Invading Your World in "Demon's Souls"

"Demon's Souls" is an innovative role-playing game that was developed by From Software for the PlayStation 3 console. It allows players to adventure through the besieged world of Boletaria and connect with other demon hunters online. Aspiring heroes can join together to fight against "The Old One" and his hordes or invade other game sessions as "Black Phantoms" to slay unsuspecting gamers for personal gain. Players who seek to avoid this form of treachery can follow a few strategies to block players from entering their world.

Instructions

    • 1

Play the game in soul form. This strategy is easy to employ, as "Demon's Souls" is a very difficult game that sees players dying frequently. After your character's initial demise, progress through the game in your soul form; Black Phantoms will never enter your world.

    • 2

Play only in the levels that you've beaten. If you defeat the boss of a particular stage, you won't be vulnerable to Black Phantom attacks upon replaying the area. Unscrupulous invaders cannot connect to your game in conquered territory.

    • 3

Enter a Major Demon's area. Although a Major Demon's area is hardly a safe haven, engaging in a boss encounter will prevent Black Phantoms from invading. You can also use this strategy to flee from pursuing Black Phantoms and eject them from your game.

    • 4

Summon a friend to invade as a Black Phantom and play cooperatively. Coordinate with another gamer whom you trust and ask him to use the "Red Stone Eye" (not to be confused with the "Black Stone Eye") item in an area in which you have not defeated the Major Demon. If you are both within the same soul-level range and your character exists in its physical-body form, you can summon a friendly Black Phantom that will prevent other players from entering.

    • 5

Disconnect your PlayStation 3 from the "Demon's Souls" servers. This strategy removes some of the game's most innovative features from the experience, but if you don't mind playing solo, it will prevent Black Phantoms from stabbing you in the back. "Demon's Souls" automatically connects to a server if your console is connected to the Internet, so disable the connection or log off of the PlayStation Network; other players cannot enter your game if you are not connected to them.
