How to Set Up a Fall Decoration With Hay and Mums

Hay bales are a big part of fall decorating.

Once the heat of summer starts to wear away, it's time to start thinking about the cooler months ahead. Nothing says fall like colorful mums and hay, and these can be used to add some fall flair to your outdoor or indoor decorations. Potted mums come in many fall colors such as orange, brown and yellow. Add in some other elements including pumpkins, and you will be ready to welcome the season.

Things You'll Need

• Rocking chair
• Scarecrow
• Pumpkins

Instructions

1. Set up the hay bales next to each other, or place a couple on top of each other. You can set them on your porch, deck or along the walkway leading up to your house. Scatter loose hay around the bales on the ground.

2. Place potted mums on top of the hay bales and around them. Use different colors of mums to create more visual interest.

3. Set a rocking chair next to the hay bales and place a scarecrow in the chair.

4. Add miniature pumpkins to the decorations by placing them all over the hay bales next to the mums, and around the bales on the ground. Place a couple in the rocking chair with the scarecrow.
