How to Use Limewire Offline

Limewire is a peer-to-peer file sharing application. As of October, 2010, Limewire was ordered to stop the distribution of the application due to copyright violations. Beyond file sharing, Limewire was a media management application and media player. If you still have Limewire installed on your computer, you can use the application in offline mode to manage and play your audio and video files.

      Open the Start menu, select "All Programs," then select "Limewire" to launch the application.

      Open the "File" menu.

      Select "Disconnect." This will disconnect Limewire from the Gnutella peer-to-peer (P2P) file sharing network, allowing you to used the media player functionality without sharing your files.

      Select the "Library" tab in the main Limewire interface. A list of all files downloaded via Limewire is displayed, along with other shared media files.

      Select the desired file type or location on the left-hand sidebar. For example, in the "Saved Files" folder, you can sort by file type to display only audio files, video files or other file types. The selected location or file type is displayed in the main window.

      Double-click a file to begin playback within Limewire. The media player controls are located in the bottom right corner of the application window.

      Select a file and click "Add to Playlist" to add the file to your queue. The queued files are listed in the bottom half of the main "Library" tab interface.
