How to Set Up an Alternative Craft Booth

Craft fairs are a great opportunity for artists to showcase their work. You can reach out to many potential buyers in a small amount of time. However, it's important that your work stands out among all the other art. Artists can market alternative crafts like body jewelry, humorous needlepoint or unusual fashions effectively by designing a booth that reflects the style of their work.

Instructions

1. Get accurate details about your rented space, including dimensions and location. Will the organizers provide a table and chairs, or will you need to bring your own? Find out if the space has available power outlets, temperature control and proper lighting.

2. Decide on a design for your booth. If you're displaying smaller items, like jewelry, you can make the decor flashier to attract attention. Larger paintings or clothing should have a simple booth to keep the items as the focus of the display. Make sure your name or brand name is memorable and displayed prominently.

3. Sketch out a plan for your booth on graph paper to create a scale model. Remember the position of your electrical outlets and plan accordingly. When in doubt, keep it simple; overcrowding a display will look tacky.

4. Purchase your supplies, including things like extension cords and duct tape for emergency repairs. Set up a test display before the show to ensure that your booth is attractive.
