How to Donate Your Status Message on Facebook

Donating Facebook statuses became popular during the 2008 presidential campaign race between Senator John McCain and Senator Barack Obama. Since then, the trend has continued. You can donate your Facebook status manually by finding a cause that you support and copying the required text into your status. When you donate a Facebook status, your primary objective is to raise awareness for whichever cause you've chosen to support, with the hope that awareness will translate into something more tangible, such as donations.

Instructions

1. Log into Facebook.

2. Type the name of the charity or organization you want to donate your status to in the "Search" bar at the top of the screen.

3. Copy the supplied text by highlighting it with your mouse, then pressing the "Ctrl" and "C" keys simultaneously.

4. Click "Profile" in the top-right corner.

5. Paste the text into your status bar by pressing the "Ctrl" and "V" key simultaneously when the cursor is in your status bar. Click "Share."
