How to Attach Music to a Craigslist Ad

The standard Craigslist posting template allows you to title, describe and even add images to a Craigslist ad without making any modifications to it. Use custom HTML code on the site to tailor an ad to a specific audience. If you post an ad for an upcoming concert or CD release, embed a link to an audio file within your ad to entice people who may not be set on going to attend the concert, purchase the CD or otherwise become a fan of the music.

Instructions

    • 1

Create the Craigslist ad as normal. Insert the following code into the ad at the point where you want to embed the link to the audio file:

      <a href="URL">Description</a>

    • 2

Upload the audio file online, be it to your own Web server or to a free hosting website like MediaFire or RapidShare. Navigate to your website control panel, log in and access the file manager. Click "Upload File." Alternatively, visit the free hosting server of your choice and click "Upload." In either case, browse your computer's hard drive for the music file and click "Open." Wait for the file to upload, then right-click the resulting link and click "Copy."

    • 3

Return to your Craigslist ad and double-click "URL." Hold down "Ctrl" and "V" at the same time to replace it with the link to your audio file. Type the link text you want where it says "Description."

    • 4

Click "Continue" to preview your Craigslist ad. Click the link to make sure it sends you to the audio file. Click "Continue" to send Craigslist's Self-Publishing Kit to your email inbox. Click the link within the email, agree to the site's Terms of Use and enter the image verification string to make the ad live on the site.
