How to Get Hypercam 2 to Record Sound on Windows XP

HyperCam 2 is a sophisticated free video capture software program that creates videos from your screenshots and microphone. You can use HyperCam 2 video recording software for producing software tutorials and demonstrations on your computer. At times, the sound may not record in HyperCam 2 if your settings are not configured properly in Windows XP. HyperCam 2 records sound directly from your sound card. It can also record from a microphone, if you have one built in or attached to your computer.

Instructions

    • 1

Start HyperCam 2 by clicking "Start," "All Programs," "HyperCam 2" and "HyperCam 2." Click the "Sound" tab.

    • 2

Click the check box beside "Record Sound from." Select your sound card or device from the drop-down menu. By "Number of channels," select "1" for "Mono" and "2" for "Stereo." By "Sample Size," select "8 bit" or "16 bit." By "Sample Rate," select "8000 samples per sec.," "11025 samples per sec.," "22050 samples per sec." or "44100 samples per sec." If you're not sure how many channels or which sample size or rate your sound card supports, check your user's guide. If you have a slow processor and very little memory, choose a smaller sample size and lower sample rate.

Click "Start," "All Programs," "Accessories," "Entertainment" and "Volume Control." Adjust the sliders for each volume level. Click "Options" and "Properties." Under "Adjust volume for," select "Recording." Under "Show the following volume controls," ensure "Microphone" is checked. Click "OK." Turn up the volume on "Microphone" to record with a microphone. To record from the sound card, click "Mute" under "Microphone." Adjust any other volume levels necessary, then click the red "X" to close the window.

Plug in your microphone and turn it on, if applicable. To record sound directly from the sound card without the microphone, click "Start," "Control Panel" and "Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices." Click "Sounds and Audio Devices." Click the "Audio" tab. Under "Sound Recording," select your sound card as the default device.

    • 5

Click the "Screen Area" tab in HyperCam 2, then click "Start Rec." Try speaking into the microphone. When you're finished, right-click "HyperCam" in the taskbar, then click "Restore."

    • 6

Click "Stop Rec." and then "Play." Listen to the playback to ensure the sound recorded. If it didn't record or the volume level is too low, return to "Volume Control" to adjust the volume levels again.
