How to Build a Drunk Chicken Rack
When your next cookout calls for chicken, a drunk chicken rack ensures a tender, moist main course for family and friends. Drunk chicken is made with beer marinade and uses a beer can in the cooking method. To make drunk chicken, three-quarters full can of beer is inserted into the cavity of a whole chicken. The can and chicken then are placed upright into an oven or a barbecue grill. A drunk chicken rack helps the beer can and the chicken. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Cut four lengths of wire that are twice the height of a beer can plus 5 inches. For example, if the beer can is 6 inches high, cut four lengths of wire that are each 17 inches long.
-
2
Bend the wire into a "U" shape with a squarish bottom. Place the beer can in the center of a wire cooling rack that is small enough to fit inside the oven or grill where you will cook the drunk chicken.

3
Place the wires upside down around the can, adjusting their position until the bend of each "U" is about even with the top of the can. Twist the arms of each "U" around the wire rack so that the wires are attached.
-
4
Cut two lengths of wire that are each 2 inches longer than the circumference of the beer can. Form the wires into two circles, twisting the ends together.
-
5
Slide the circles over the outside of the attached "U" pieces, around 2 inches apart. Cut 1-inch pieces of wire, and use as twists to attach the circles to the sides of the "U's"
-
6
Remove the can. When ready to cook, place a 3/4 full can of beer into the can cavity on the rack. Slide the chicken over the beer can and wire supports. The wire rack will hold the chicken and can upright for cooking.

Tips & Warnings
You can make a drunk chicken tray by soldering a tube of steel about the same size as a beer can into the middle of a 1- or 2-inch-deep cake pan. This allows you to place the marinade directly into the tube, and skip the beer can.
