How to Put Up an Audio File With a Picture Slideshow on YouTube

YouTube is meant to allow each user to share video content he creates, but that doesn't mean the videos he uploads need be contiguously or live shot. For example, you can set up a slideshow of your pictures to a song you or someone you know recorded and upload it to your YouTube account to share both the photos and music with the world.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the Windows "Start" menu, and open "Windows Live Movie Maker," the free, factory-installed movie creator that comes with Windows.

    • 2

Hover your mouse over the "Capture Video" button and click "Import Audio or Music." Locate the audio file on your hard drive, select it and click "Open."

    • 3

Click "Import Pictures." Navigate to the folder that contains the pictures you want to add, highlight all of them and click "Open." Arrange your pictures within Windows Movie Maker's "Timeline" to reflect the order in which you want them to play, keeping the time marks on the audio file that's also in the timeline as a reference.

    • 4

Open the "Play" drop-down menu and click "Play" to preview your movie and make sure it's as you like it. Hold down the "Ctrl" and "S" buttons at the same time, enter a file name and click "Save" to save it to your computer.

    • 5

Upload the file to YouTube as you would any other. Log in to your YouTube account, click "Upload," and then click "Browse." Locate the file on your computer, click its name, click the "Open" button and wait for it to upload to your account. Optionally, input a title, description and tags to describe your video to search engines while it uploads.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not use copyrighted images or music in your slideshow without permission. Doing so violates not only YouTube policy, but also federal law.
