  • 2 cups shredded coconut
  • Plastic zipper-seal freezer bags
  • Food coloring

      Place two or more cups of shredded coconut flakes into a plastic zipper-seal freezer bag.

      Pour 1 tsp. cold water in a bowl. Add any color food coloring, one drop at a time, to the water until you reach your desired shade. Stir the mixture to blend.

      Pour the colored water into the plastic bag with the coconut. Close the bag's zipper seal securely.

      Shake the bag until all of the coconut flakes are evenly saturated with color.

      Use the colored coconut flakes to make colored candies.

Tips & Warnings

  • Blend primary food colors to create customized colors. For example, mix equal parts red and blue food coloring to create a purple dye.
