Instructions

    • 1

Separate the pieces of the day bed. These should include two end frames, one back frame, mattress support slats and a sideboard.

    • 2

Stand one of the end frames on its legs. Slide in the tenons of the back frame into the mortise joints on the end frame. Bring the other end frame close to the other end of the back frame. Fit in the mortise joints on the second end frame into the other side of the tenons on the back frame.

    • 3

Fit the tenons on each side of the sideboard into the other pair of mortise joints on both end frames.

    • 4

Place the mattress support flats into the rectangular space formed by the end frames, back frame and sideboard. Rest the support slats on the short ledge built into the frames and sideboard.

    • 5

Move one end of the end frame against a wall. Rap a mallet repeatedly against the reverse sides of the other end frames' mortise joints. Push each side of the day bed to see if it is securely held or shaky. Rap the back of the mortise joints harder if the day bed is shaky. Place a fitting mattress over the support slats.
