How to Send a BCC Email From AOL to All My Contacts

Sending mass emails threatens the privacy of every recipient if you are not careful. You wouldn't want your friends blabbering your contact details to their accountant and poker buddies, but that's exactly what happens when you blast out an email to everybody in your address book using the standard "To" field. Respect the privacy of your friends by using the "Bcc" field when you send a mass email to all your AOL contacts -- they'll appreciate it. The option isn't immediately obvious, but it's there, and it hides the email addresses of the recipients from prying eyes.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your AOL account, and click "Compose" to create a new outgoing email.

    • 2

Click "Bcc," a small option to the right of the "To" field. A new field, labeled "Bcc," appears beneath the "To" line.

    • 3

Click "Bcc" to the left of the newly created field. A list of your contacts appears.

    • 4

Click every name in your list of contacts to add them to the "Bcc" field.

    • 5

Click "Bcc" again to close your contact list.

    • 6

Finish writing the message and send it off. The recipients will only be able to see their own email address when they receive the message.

Tips & Warnings

  • Some email programs allow you to hold "Shift" and click on the first and last entries in your contact list to select everyone. AOL Mail, or AIM Mail, does not support this feature while selecting Bcc recipients.
