How to Create an Unemployment PIN in Maryland
A Maryland employer is required to submit quarterly contribution and employment reports to the Unemployment Insurance Division of the Department of Labor. The required report may be mailed; however, the easiest way to submit the report is by online filing. In order to file the report online, an employer must have an online account and create a personal identification number, or PIN. In addition, a claimant for unemployment insurance benefits must create a PIN when she submits her first weekly claim for benefits. The PIN is then used each time she submits a claim for benefits.

Tips & Warnings
Both your Maryland UI employer account number and your federal employer identification number can be found on the top right corner of your Maryland UI contribution report.
If you have not registered your business yet with the State of Maryland, you will need to do so on the same website in order to receive an account number.
If you have not registered with the Internal Revenue Service and received a FEIN, then you must register through the IRS's website.
A claimant for UI benefits may not use the online system if, during the preceding 18 months, he has worked for an employer outside of Maryland, worked for more than three employers, worked for the federal government or filed a claim for UI in another state.
