Instructions

    • 1

Wrap plumber's tape around the threaded ends of a 1/2-inch diameter galvanized pipe. Each end of the pipe needs to feature threads to attach to the water spigot and showerhead. The length of the pipe depends on how high up the wall you want the showerhead.

    • 2

Secure an elbow to the top end of the pipe to resemble a hook. Thread the end of the showerhead with plumber's tape and secure to the elbow. Secure a second elbow to the bottom of the pipe, with the opening of the elbow facing the spigot.

    • 3

Attach a male pipe adaptor to combine the elbow to the water spigot. Tighten with a wrench to ensure there are no leaks.

    • 4

Secure the pipe and showerhead to the wall with C-shaped pipe hangers. Drill the hangers to the wall to keep the pipe in place. Attach a rounded shower curtain rod to the wall for additional privacy, and cover the outdoor shower with a weatherproof shower curtain.

    • 5

Place gravel in the showering area to filter water into the soil to prevent flooding if the shower is in a garden location. Concrete or stone tiles also work well if a shower is located on a patio, but use a teak shower mat to prevent slipping.

Install towel hooks directly next to the shower to hang towels up when you shower.
