If you suspect your computer has been hijacked or hacked, it's a good idea to report it to the authorities right away, since thieves could have stolen personal data or financial information. The Federal Trade Commission handles hacking investigations, and you should file a complaint if you think your computer has been compromised. The FTC allows you to file online.

Enter your contact information: name, address, phone numbers and email address.

Watch for signs that your computer has been hijacked. If you see changes to your home page, constant pop-up ads on your computer or you keep getting redirected to a site you don't want to go to, you might be a victim.
