An alcohol binge places extra stress on organs of the body, particularly the liver. While with time your body will feel better after drinking, you can aid the cleansing process by paying extra attention to what you drink and eat in the week following the binge. The most important thing you can do is stay away from drinking any more alcohol during that time and to drink plenty of water.

Things You'll Need

  • 8-ounce cup
  • Lemon
  • Garlic
  • Fruit
  • Green, leafy vegetables
  • Beets
  • Broccoli

Drink eight, eight-ounce glasses of water each day, minimum. Add lemon for flavor and extra liver-detoxifying benefits. Use the juice from one entire lemon per day in your water. If your urine is still dark at the end of the day, increase the amount of water you drink throughout the day by one glass until your urine is pale yellow or clear.

Incorporate at least one clove of fresh, crushed garlic to your diet every day for a week. You can eat it on salads, in pasta sauce or any other way you prefer. If you can’t stand garlic, eat onions daily instead.

Avoid eating processed foods, such as hot dogs, fatty foods and sugars the first day or two after an alcohol binge. Because breading down fats and sugars is among the liver's functions, these foods add extra work for the organ. Instead, eat fruits and vegetables and lean protein, such as chicken, only. Fresh green leafy vegetables, beetroot, broccoli all may help your body.

Tips & Warnings

  • Caffeinated drinks such as coffee may make you feel more alert after drinking, but will dehydrate you further and will not help cleanse your body.
  • Do not drink the water all at once. Space the water consumption throughout the day.
  • Binge drinking can lead to alcohol poisoning, which is serious. If you binge often and feel you cannot stop, consider seeking treatment from an addictions treatment facility -- your life may be at stake.
